Monday Muse: Tony Gum

May 15, 2017

This week's Monday Muse features the incredibly visionary Tony Gum. "If I could afford to be a minimalist - I would be one, but for now, this one's for the creative kids." - this is the statement that opens her personal page, and we agree that it truly fits her like a glove. This model and artist certainly doesn't abide by a love of black and clean lines, she's more an advocate of maximalism which we find refreshing and cheery.
A native of and currently based in Cape Town, this beauty is a super talented burgeoning photographer and part-time model. We were instantly transfixed by her personal style as well as her art upon stumbling into her world on Instagram. We love her perspective and modern satirical view on popular culture today. ~Her style is an eclectic mix of soft pastel shades and bold punchy colour, she's a love of pattern and print, we're also obsessed with her varying hair styles. Her personal style and art work overlap as she celebrates her inspiration with odes to artists like Frida Kahlo and her tongue in cheek pop art-esque rebranding of American Brands such as Coca-Cola and Adidas.

Awash with pastels and dashes of bold American sportswear, the twenty-year-old makes references as diverse as the 1978 cult Jamaican movie Rockers and the New York.

Have a peep at her amazing work here.
With a mixture of sports labels, African prints and bold lips, her style is definitely bold and fearless! Yes, girl keep it coming!
